Omega (Brasil) Sub-sector: Energy

Omega Investment targets are SHP (small hydro plants), biomass-power plants and any other generation asset that offers adequate returns, scale of production and no dependence on conventional fuels with finite nature.

The initial investment was made through the acquisition of a portfolio of projects of small hydropower plants, comprising 57 projects with a total installed capacity of 196MW throughout Brazil. Omega has the goal to achieve an installed capacity of 1,000 MW by 2015 from renewable energy sources.

Omega is a joint-venture with Winbros, a holding company owned by Mr. Wilson Brumer (president of the board of directors of Light and member of the board of directors of Usiminas and Localiza), Romeu Scarioli and Poente Energia, an energy and environmental consulting firm.
