José Carlos Magalhães

José Carlos is Tarpon’s founding Partner and CIO. Additionally, he serves as a Member of the Board of Directors at Semco Group, BrasilAgro, Lojas Marisa and Omega Energia Renovável. He has more than 10 years experience as portfolio manager for large individual investors; working as portfolio manager at Patrimônio/Salomon Brothers, focused on small caps and second tier stocks; as an investment associate at JP Morgan/Chase; as a business associate at GP Investimentos and as Managing Director focused on business development at Semco Group.

José Carlos Magalhães majored in Business Administration at Fundação Getúlio Vargas, in São Paulo.
